Five stages stand between a practice set on a friend's kitchen table and a licensed chair of her own. This page tracks all five, holds the study material, and shows the work as it happens.

Stage 2 of 5 in progress 300 hours to earn NJ Board of Cosmetology & Hairstyling

The road to a license

Five nails, five stages.

One nail per stage, filled in as it is earned. Tap any nail to see what that stage actually takes.

Practice sets

The work so far.

Every set here was done free of charge on friends and family, for practice and portfolio. No prices, no booking, no exceptions until the license is in hand.

Senior year homework

Learn it before you pay for it.

The 300-hour course covers all of this. Reading it a year early turns the course into review instead of a firehose. Check items off as they are read — the page remembers.

Where the 300 hours happen

Programs within driving distance.

Ranked by fit, not by distance. Every one of these requires a high school diploma or GED and a minimum age of 17, which is why the program starts after graduation.

01 Rizzieri Aveda School Top choice Voorhees, NJ

Runs a 300-hour manicuring program. Requires age 17 and a diploma or GED, which lines up exactly with a June 2027 graduation. Tour this one first.

02 Jolie Health & Beauty Academy Backup Cherry Hill, NJ

Part-time and evening manicuring schedules available, which is the best option if a job needs to run alongside the hours.

03 PB Cosmetology Education Centre Backup Gloucester City, NJ

300-hour nail design program at roughly $4,500 all in, including kit and textbooks. The clearest published price of the group.

04 Empire Beauty School Backup Cherry Hill, NJ

Offers nail technology. Confirm before applying that the standalone 300-hour manicuring schedule is running for a post-graduation start.

05 Rowan College at Burlington County Ruled out Mount Laurel, NJ

Admissions confirmed there is no nail technology or manicuring certificate here. Closed as an option.

06 Burlington County Institute of Technology Unlikely Medford / Westampton, NJ

County vocational programs generally require full-time high school enrollment and do not offer a standalone shared-time manicuring certificate.

Non-negotiable

The rules that protect the license.

New Jersey does not take unlicensed practice lightly, and a violation now can follow an application later. These four rules stay in force until the license is issued.

No money

No cash, no app transfers, no tips, no gift cards, no trades. Free means free, every single time.

No booking

No appointment links, no calendars, no deposits. Friends and family reach out directly and are told it is practice.

No pricing

No menus, no rate cards, no "DM for prices" anywhere on this site or on Instagram.

Always labeled

Every profile and every gallery says the same thing: unlicensed student, portfolio and practice only.
